Western Tourist's Report of Protest in Lhasa, Tibet

Lhasa eyewitness: 'City in cinders'
After days of violent street protests, a Western tourist in Lhasa, who wishes to remain anonymous, describes a tense, deserted city firmly in the hands of the Chinese military.
BBC News
Last Updated: Sunday, 16 March 2008, 18:12 GMT

Some tourists who were in the east were forcibly removed from their hotels and hostels. Police turned up today and tried to forcibly remove all of us to a hotel further out west ... Our hostel was largely occupied by Chinese people and they were panic-stricken. They armed themselves with anything they could find; beer bottles, meat cleavers. They started to break chairs and windows to arm themselves.

Long Branch Beaches among the Best?

What am I missing? I mean, don't get me wrong, Long Branch is a great place (and one I always thought was a bit underrated) but one of Travel & Leisure magazine’s list of 20 Great American Beaches? I don't get it. Anyway, interesting article. Poor Asbury Park - out in the cold yet again.

Where Leasing Beats Selling
By ANTOINETTE MARTIN
New York Times
Published: March 16, 2008

The club has been wildly popular, by all accounts, and last year gained Long Branch a spot on Travel & Leisure magazine’s list of 20 Great American
Beaches. “That was amazing, given what the place was, like, only about five or six years before that,” Mr. Barry said.

Paris Short Film: Liberty Fades

Very short clip shot at the Statue of Liberty in Paris (yes, there's a Statue of Libery in Paris too). What's interesting is how the statue's shadow cast upon the bridge behind it fades in and out. Kinda neat.

Paris Short Film: L'Art du Bain

Shot early on a Sunday morning from a hotel window in the 16th Arrodisment of Paris. The subject had been standing there for some time before I ever started looking out of the window and was there at least a minute or two before I grabbed my camcorder. Sad.
