An opportunity awaits you on the beautiful Hawaiian island of Molokai. The Molokai Times offers regular four-month internships for journalism students interested in refining their craft. Besides running the newspaper of record for the island, we also operate KMKK radio, the island’s only FM radio station. We also have an active multimedia website, www.molokaitimes.com. Our summer internships begin in late April and run through September. We can be flexible with the dates to accommodate school schedules. South Pacific Island Nation Vanuatu: Happiest Place in the World

The following article and relevant clip from the BBC report on recent findings that the South Pacific nation of Vanuatu is the Happiest country on earth. I can't help but think about two of my favorite books: Paul Theroux's Happy Isles of Oceania and Michener's Tales of the South Pacific, especially Tales' mythical isle of Bali Hai.

The archipelago of 83 islands in the western Pacific is the happiest place on the planet, according to a new "happy planet index" published by the New Economics Foundation (NEF). The UK languishes in 108th place, below Libya, Iran, and Palestine.

I'm pleased to report that these islands are indeed full of nodding palms and crisp reefs and all that tropical eye candy that makes for a great brochure. But more than that, the place is interesting. And fun. And stunningly hospitable.
